After all the trauma Moyo and you have both been through, I have wondered if this moment would ever come. How miraculous that it has! It was so brave of you to do this Roxy, to trust in your intuition and to trust in Moyo. What an incredibly moving and beautifully-written article! The profound connection you have with Moyo, your fellow matriarch, has started a new chapter. My heartfelt thanks for sharing this most extraordinary of journeys with us.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful love and reconciliation story! The photos, video and your description of the external and internal setting made a place I have never seen and beings I have never met (yet!) come alive for me. In these fraught times, it is so important to be reminded of all the beauty and goodness that exist.
Your words have truly touched me. The poetry in your storytelling, the depth of your emotions, and the profound connection you share with Moyo moved me beyond words. Reading about your journey—from heartbreak to healing—was both humbling and uplifting.
The way you describe the bush, the changing earth, and the rhythm of life is simply magical. But above all, your courage, patience, and love shine through. What a beautiful moment of trust and forgiveness you experienced—it gave me goosebumps.
Thank you for sharing your heart so generously. I look forward to reading more and supporting the incredible work you do.
Oh Roxy!!! This has melted my heart. A bond like yours couldn't be broken for long. Moyo is your little (well, not so little!) soul mate, forever... Thank you for your beautiful post and the wonderful photos. I'm so very happy for you xxxxxx
So happy you hear that and Moyo are reunited. You were her mom when she was a baby and grew up. So happy to see she is 💯 healed after her terrible accident. Sending love and hugs
Oh Roxy! I cried. And my heart is so full of you for you and Moyo, for a much as you have been healed and reconciled, so has your precious girl been restored to you. To be loved by an elephant of a profound thing. I am beyond happy for both of you
I have felt the strength of a 4 yr old baby at Reteti Elephant Sanctuary in Samburu North Kenya. They can easily break me at that age. I'm small boned like you. I felt the muscles for the first time in my life and immediately understood their power. Your survival is a miracle.
This moment you describe is everything.
I can't seem to find what exactly happened to Moyo with which elephant. Maybe that's subscription material.
Thank you for sharing this moving story, Roxy. I was in floods of tears but so happy for you and Moyo, reconciled at last! The bond between you and Moyo will never be broken again, and that makes my heart sing. You are both such beautiful beings. 🙏🏻🪷
You are both miracles…. The connection will remain forever …. However faint or present….What a blessing you have been given in this relationship and the ability to nuture and provide for these animals.
So happy to read about Moyo and you finding that connection back. Such a heartwarming account!
I was taken aback by your ability to forgive her when she lashed out at you. You must have been in pain too and yet you managed recognize that she was in so much pain. As I read that part, I worried for you and felt troubled to know that you got hurt in the process. But the resulting fear didn't prevent you from going to see her. That must have mattered to her. She knew that you cared for her. That's such an important takeaway.
Absolutely appreciated the honesty with which you have expressed your emotions that followed. Fear is a hard one to accept and move on from. You and Moyo are such amazing heroes. Thank you for this inspiring story!

Roxy great to see you have got your mojo back with Moyo!
Have you changed your transport procedures so that no other elephant can be injured the way she was?
